In light of global challenges, economic uncertainty, political upheaval, and extreme weather events, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We continue to hear from leaders within the FMCG industry that this remains the ongoing reality.

But the greatest opportunities often emerge from adversity.

Because every cloud has a silver lining!
It’s always darkest before the dawn!
She’ll be right, mate!
The sun will come up tomorrow!

This one-day forum is here to inspire, equip, and connect the next generation of leaders in New Zealand’s FMCG industry, helping you to create and design your own positive pathway to success and become the future of our fast-paced consumer goods sector.

  • Dr Oliver Hartwich

Applying a Global Lens to New Zealand’s Future

Dr Oliver Hartwich is the Executive Director of The New Zealand Initiative and brings a uniquely global lens to leadership, economics, and strategy. His international career spans roles in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand—including Chief Economist at London’s Policy Exchange and an advisory role in the UK House of Lords.

In his keynote, Dr Hartwich will challenge us to break out of linear thinking, explore our cultural discomfort with confrontation, and consider the impact of insular mindsets within New Zealand’s business landscape. Expect a dynamic and provocative perspective on how embracing tension and complexity can drive innovation and resilience in FMCG leadership.

  • How Artificial Intelligence is shaping new ways of working and impacting cultural constructs in the workplace.

  • We’re bringing industry CEOs to the stage—and putting them on the spot. This is your chance to ask the tough questions, gain unique insights, and challenge the senior leaders shaping the industry. No scripts, no filters—just real conversations that matter.

  • In today’s fast-paced world, finding time to connect can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve intentionally carved out space during lunch for you to network, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones. Enjoy great food, meaningful conversations, and a chance to recharge before the next session.

  • Keynote: Unshakeable: Leading with Purpose in Unfamiliar Spaces

Dame Farah Palmer is a pioneering figure in sport, education, and leadership. As former captain of the Black Ferns, she led the team to multiple Rugby World Cup victories. She was the first woman appointed to the board of New Zealand Rugby, later serving as co-chair until her retirement in 2024.

Farah was instrumental in New Zealand’s successful bid to host the 2022 Women’s Rugby World Cup and continues to shape the future of sport and education. As Executive Director of Māori Student Success at Massey University, she advocates for equity, tikanga Māori, and Treaty-aligned leadership. Her academic achievements include a doctorate in sport and leadership from Otago University.

Her governance work includes the NZ Māori Rugby Board, Sport NZ, and the Pūhoro Charitable Trust. Her research focuses on sport for development and Māori women in leadership. In 2022, she was appointed a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to sport and the community.

  • How to intentionally cultivate and project genuine positivity across all areas of leadership and life.

  • Every session is followed by a CEO facilitated table discussion, enabling guests to unpack and personally apply learnings.

  • We wrap the day with a stunning selection of canapés and drinks so you can continue to connect with your peers and senior leaders.
